Noni
Cultivation
Seminar Presentation
Good Morning and
Welcome.
I welcome each and
every one of you to this Presentation on Noni
cultivation.
I request you to
listen to this presentation in a way it can make a
difference in your life and allow you to take a decision
for your future. I request you to reserve all your
queries till the end of the session and listen to me
with an open mind. Today I am going to discuss about the
cultivation of the fruit of a plant called Morinda
Citrifolia. Noni is the commercial name of this fruit in
the World.
Among various plant
species, Noni has been extensively used by people world
over as food, dye and other purposes and connected
directly with billions of people’s health and
livelihood. This fruit contains more than 150+
neutraceuticals that are required by our body on a daily
basis. Noni has proved to be an amazing health enhancer
for all kinds of modern health condition.
Noni is very popular
in the world as a food supplement. More than 40
Universities in the world are undertaking research on
the health enhancing properties of this fruit and
published more than 500 research papers on Noni. There
are more than 30,60,000 weblinks on the Internet that
speaks about its immense popularity in the world with
the market over Rs. 300
Crores.
We at Divine Noni have
done extensive research on this particular species
Morinda citrifolia (NONI) since last 5 years and
products manufactured, marketed and exported by us since
last 3½ years.
Today we have our
presence in all the state and union territories of India
and we have our presence outside India also. Noni has
proved its efficacy and is moving by the power of the
product, and created its strong base in India and in the
world market.
Based on the growth of
Divine Noni, we see a massive demand for the product in
the future. This requires supply of huge quantity of raw
material – Noni Fruit. Today we as an integrated company
engaged in the entire activity right from the Plant to
the Product to the People [P-P-P] or we call it Fruit –
to Formula – to Future [F-F-F] i.e. the Research &
Development, Cultivation, Processing, manufacturing and
this Natural food supplement made from the fruit of the
plant called Morinda Citrifolia.
We draw your attention
to fact that our forward integration [i.e. manufacturing
of product and the marketing of the product] has got a
strong base in India and we have planned to take Divine
Noni to 63 countries in the world in the next 3 years.
Seeing the growth and potential of this product and to
meet the future raw material requirement of the Noni
Industry, we have commenced our backward integration
[i.e. Cultivation] facilities in a contract cultivation
module. The strength and longevity of a big building
depends on the strong foundation.
Need for Noni
Cultivation –
1. To meet the
future Demand. As the demand for the product
Divine Noni is growing everyday we have planned to meet
our future demand and supply requirements.
2. To make
Divine Noni Available to common man at an affordable
price – the vision of our beloved chairman is
to bring down the cost by which Divine Noni can reach
all the segments of the society.
3. To carry
forward Noni Good Health and wellness
revolution to reach every nook and corner of
India.
4. To
Rejuvenate and Revitalize the Indian Farming
Industry. Today the present situation of farmer
is not encouraging due to various parameters like
labour, marketing challenges. middlemen, less yield, no
proper pricing etc etc. If you look into their eyes and
try to understand their need of the hour you will find
that everyone is looking for a change in the crop which
will give them profit. But they have a big question in
their minds, “who will supply them necessary technology,
Who will guide them rightly and regularly, Who will
supply them the good quality raw materials (plants), Who
will support them and finally who will Buy their produce
on harvesting.
To answer all their
queries Divine noni Cultivation Council (INCC) has
initiated the Noni contract cultivation
programme.
5.To provide a
new life to Farmer - Noni Cultivation is not
only going to change the life of the farmers but also
change the life style of the farming community by giving
them a new life through the blessings of Noni users’.
6. Creating
Green pension for the farmers – by providing
continuous income for 40 plus years through Noni
Cultivation.
7. To promote
Organic and Organic Cultivation- the whole
world is changing from Chemicals to Naturals. The
Worldwide shift towards organic for the dangerous
effects of the chemical farming. Promoting the
importance Organic cultivation in which there is no
challenge to the health, no fear of soil declination, no
pollution and no damage to our environment. To advocate
the same we have our own bio fertilizer manufacturing
facility namely Divine Noni Organic Inputs
(INOI).
These are the major
reasons why we are taking up the Noni Cultivation
Programme. Now let us discuss about the technical
aspects of Noni Cultivation.
Basic
Data on Cultivation :
1. Soil
:
Noni plant comes up
very well in any kind of soil whether it is alkaline or
saline but performs very well in sandy loam
soil.
2. Climate
& Temperature :
It can be grown in any
adverse climatical condition whether it is very hot or
low rainfall or high rainfall it is grown in tropics to
sub tropics heavy rainfall to drough hit areas or very
heavy wind.
3. Planting
Season :
The ideal season for
planting is June-October i.e. before the onset of
monsoon or it can be planted in January to March where
irrigation facilities are available.
4. Seedling
:
Needs about 290
seedling /acre with a spacing of 12.25’ X 12.25’ and
with a pit size of 2’X2’X2’.
5. Preparatory
Cultivation :
Ploughing and leveling
the land to optimum field condition is
necessary.
6. Irrigation
:
Noni plant thrives
with moderate irrigation and can survive even in drought
conditions once the plant is established. Irrigate
regularly during the early stage of the plant to enable
the plant to establish better.
As we are going to
take up noni for the commercial cultivation, we require
the presence of water for better yield and growth as per
our guidance and projections.
7. Weeding
:
It can be controlled
by following drip irrigation system. You can carryout
weeding as when necessary.
8. Pest and
diseases :
Normally Noni is
resistant to pests of diseases. However if required it
can be controlled easily by organic
pesticides.
9. Harvesting
:
Noni plant starts
flowering 8-10 months after planting. But we suggest to
remove all the flowers upto 18 months for better growth
and bushy plant. Flowering and fruiting is continuous
throughout year. But 60% of the yield will be from
February to June.
Noni Plant is capable of giving
upto 150 kg/tree under ideal cultivation after 7
years.
Our
Strategy :
Our Strategy is to
promote Morinda cultivation among Indian Farmers as a
profitable venture with inbuilt integrated service and
support system to ensure profit and success. This
contract cultivation module has been systematically
designed to provide the entire support under one roof as
an umbrella coverage. We offer 100% buyback of the
produce at a predetermined price creating Win Win
situation for both the farmer and the
Organistion..
Following are
the features of Noni contract cultivation of INCC
providing the support “off the field” and “on the
field”.

finance from the Bank provided the farmer fulfills all
the requirement of the bank as per the banker’s
norms.

authorities, if required.
INCC will not finance
for any project.

continuous information, interaction, inspiration and
periodical training to the cultivators at our regional
NRTC.
We have our regional
Field research stations in eight States viz. Maharastra,
Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Berhampur
(Orissa), Kerala, MP etc and plans to extend to more
states. These center are going to act as farmers
training and procurement center for the state. Further
we are committed to continuous plant/tree improvement
and research in our Tissue Culture Laboratory (TCL) and
Center for Organic Divine Noni (COIN) the primary field
research center. These are the dedicated Morinda
research center first time in the world.
